Photoshop VS Photoshop

October 21, 2009 in foto

This morning I’ve read, Yes I have read, the last picture that Maika has uploaded to Flickr. There Maika talks about the eternal question on photography world “Photoshop yes vs Photoshop no”. I absolutely agree with her. She has explained so clear, then I decide share it with you.

If you click on the picture you can read the comments on Flickr.

Yesterday visiting Jorge_E’s gallery, I found myself again with the eternal question: Photoshop yes or no? Then, I remembered all the times I have heard from the “purists” that the photos edited with Photoshop or other programs, in fact aren’t photos.

But, is it more real the picture that years ago were processed in a laboratory for unknown people, or which nowadays currently we can process ourselves, often with better results?

As George says: “Nobody meddles with B & W photo, but there is something more unreal than a B & W photo?”

Nor should we forget that when we edit a picture, our starting point is that “real image” so much discussed. Thus, one can think that we also know how to take pictures (better or worse) but we know how to do it. But, furthermore we also know how to process them to get the final result that we desired because that is our “work of art” (or not).

To people who plead themselves “AntiPhotoshop” usually I raise them this question: do you know how to use Photoshop or any editing program? And the most of times the answer is NO.

Like would say in the lawyers’s movies, … “No more questions!”

Ah! some more examples …

When we get up and go to the bathroom to wash, comb, shaving, plucking, make-up …. etc. ‘re making us a Photoshop?

Women wearing sash, become a “liquefied” hip and waist to Photoshop?

Men wearing implants in the hair, as a sample, have become a Photoshop?

We are “unrealistic” or simply we are improving our image?

I think that photography is a work of art like any other. In the same way that some people like realistic painting, other prefers impressionist or cubist some people like the photography more “honest” and realistic and other prefers the photography retouched and even assemblies, with the purpose to make their work even more beautiful.

always photos were cut, swap levels … and that did not impoverish the message to be sent or the artist who has made it. In my opinion, photography is anything more to push the button.

Yessssssssssssss, I use Photoshop! Any problem!

In the end I would dedicate today’s photo to my “unreal” photo masters  QuimG, Joanot , Carmen Moreno, alvar_astulez, Salva Mira, alfanhuí, Ra_Felo, Iván Maigua, de Márquez, Mariano Villalba, christian&alicia, batabidd, el silencio, Juan Calderón, Alfonso de Blanes, Seracat, Pablo Ramil, foto37

Gang of “unreal” Do not feel ashamed doing that?!!!! (ツ)
