Barcelona – the harbour
September 7, 2009 in Barcelona
Last Monday picture, deserves a short explanation.
The photo was taken from Montuic’s castle, exactly from the point marked by the arrow.
Throughout history Barcelona’s harbor has grown from its beginnings in the small cove on Maians’s island, current area Barceloneta neighborhood to Llobregat river.
A few years ago moved the river mouth, which generated no little controversy and the harbor expanded its boundaries, opened a second entrance, moved the fuel dock to the west and grew the container area, which is the part that you can see in the photograph.
Nothing to do with this image of 1880 when the harbor ended in the area known as the Morrot that would be far to the left of the field covered by my panoramic.
