Those who come to visit the Liceu’s Backstage whenever I say …. I’m sorry, but you cannot take pictures … turn off the mobile… and the most importantly ... the most important thing in this visit is not that I show you, the most important is in the ending you know better all the prior procedures involving an opera premier...

Opera is voice, music, scenery… Opera is an ensemble, the many people’s work union. That people can work singing, playing instruments but also carpentry, makeup or hairdresser. Their objective is simply to get their job art.

Everybody is important.

The soprano can sing like an angel, but if in the great moment the wig fall down. In the future nobody will remember how she well sang, for everybody that day will be “the day when the soprano loses the wig”
At the same way if in the middle of Walkiries’s cavalcade a horn go off course the whole orchestra loses as well.

Usually opera have two or four principal roles. The others are those we use to forget, but always there is a moment when the great tenor must joint his voice with one off those no-name singers in those moments both are as important.

The opera’s world is full of that I call art workers. Men and women whose names probably might never be written with golden letters in the music’s history but without whom there would be no opera.

One of them is Miguel Lopez Galindo, who was born in Madrid, winner of the first international singing Julian Gayarre. A man who throughout his career has covered much of the major theaters of the world, a man of deep and serious voice that has always managed to give fair and proper counterpoint to people how Plácido Domingo, Montserrat Caballe, Alfredo Kraus among many others.

A singer’s kind that critics used to qualify as …. “his work on the role off was remarkable” “good job ….”, “in perfect synchronicity with ….”, “great and serious professional….”

Those comments are often too short to do justice at those many great singers, good workers, masters on their job.

Miguel Lopez Galindo has acted several times in the Gran Teatre Liceu. Cristobal Colon 1989, with José Carreras and Montserrat Caballe, A UN BALLO MASCHERA (Verdi) in November 1990, DIE ZAURBERFLÖTE (Mozart), Salome (R. Strauss), PIKOVAIA DAMA (Tchaikovsky) alongside Plácido Domingo, Boris Godunov (Mussorgsky), and so on.

I hope do you like that aria. I chose it thinking on all those singers who must wait an entire opera and in the end they must face up a piece so short, so beautiful and so difficult.
