An Opera named Requiem

It is 22:46 October 19th 2208, right now I’ve come back from the Palau, the incomparable frame (In this case a well-taken topic. See above photograph) where this evening has been performed a Verdi’s opera named Requiem.

Verdi’s Requiem, that’s my opinion, is a great opera full of extraordinary musical pieces, today splendidly performed.

I’ve had preferred being in the second floor to listen the soloist better, but today I’ve had so magnificent localities (orchestra 10 row) so near stage than I almost eat the soprano, or rather she could have been eating me.

I call the Requiem like opera because it’s difficult to imagine “that” performed inside a church.

Like a lady in the back row said.

there are as many people up as down. It was true. Today on the Palau’s extended stage there were: The Simphonic Liceu’s Orchestra, 98 musicians, the Liceu’s Choir 78 singers, The Chamber’s Palau choir, I don’t know how many people are but in any case a lot and the soloist all under the conductor’s responsibility Mr. Enrique Mazzola.

Seeing the conductor’s self-expression through movement I thought that he understands this requiem like me, like an opera. A musical cocktail with a bit of Aida and Otello mixed with some brush-strokes from Nabucco. An opera extract without recitatives and other silly which can distract the audience.

An hour and forty minutes listening Verdi’s music played flat out. Today my husband has gone with me and he has a great interest controlling time not as much to control the musical tempo as to know how much time he must be seated on the chair without possible escape.

Today’s cast was René Pape (one off my favourites bass), Joan Bros (how I like his voice!), the mezzo-soprano Iliana d’Inico and Hasmic Papian who has substituted the announced Angela Brown.

By way of example these three passages.

The “lacrimosa” where you can listen René Pape. The wonderful Renée Fleming voice performing “liberate me”. And the well-know dies Israe one of the most powerful chorus’s passages wrote by Verdi.

See you
